1. The Healthy Breakfast

I decided I was finally going to start eating a healthy breakfast every morning. So I bought fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, and even some chia seeds because apparently happiness now comes in tiny seeds.

The next morning, I opened the fridge, looked at everything, and thought, “This is great.”

Then I closed the fridge and made toast.

I’m not saying I gave up on healthy eating. I’m just saying the toast and I have a very strong history together.

2. The Productive Day

I woke up early one Saturday and decided I was going to have an incredibly productive day.

I made a to-do list, organized my desk, answered two emails, and even put a load of laundry in.

Feeling proud of myself, I sat down for a five-minute break.

Three hours later, I was watching a video about a man who builds tiny houses for squirrels.

I’m not sure what happened to my productivity, but apparently the squirrels have excellent real estate.

3. The Smart Home

I bought a smart speaker because I thought it would make my life easier.

Now I can ask it to set reminders, play music, tell me the weather, and answer questions without lifting a finger.

Yesterday I asked, “What should I have for dinner?”

It said, “Here are some recipes.”

So I asked, “Can you make one?”

It stopped talking.

That’s when I realized I had finally found a device that understands me perfectly: helpful until actual work is involved.
