1. The Important Meeting

My boss sent an email saying, “We need everyone to attend this important meeting.”

I immediately started preparing.

I reviewed my notes, organized my files, made a cup of coffee, and even practiced looking interested.

When the meeting started, my boss looked around the room and said, “Does anyone know why we're here?”

Nobody answered.

We all looked at each other.

After five minutes of silence, someone finally said, “I think you invited us.”

My boss paused.

“Oh.”

Then he checked his calendar.

“I thought this was next Tuesday.”

We spent the next thirty minutes discussing whether we should still have the meeting.

That was the most productive part.

2. The Email

I once spent twenty minutes writing what I thought was the perfect professional email.

I checked the grammar, fixed the punctuation, and carefully chose every word.

Then I proudly pressed Send.

Two seconds later, I noticed I had sent it to the wrong person.

I panicked and immediately sent another email saying, “Please disregard my previous message.”

The person replied:

“Sure. Which previous message?”

I stared at the screen.

Apparently, I had accidentally sent that email to the wrong person too.

At that point, I decided the only professional response was to turn off my computer and become a farmer.

3. The Work-from-Home Problem

Working from home sounded wonderful.

No commute.

No office noise.

No one walking past my desk asking, “Got a minute?”

On my first work-from-home day, I joined an important video meeting wearing a perfectly respectable shirt.

Unfortunately, I had forgotten that the camera showed more than my shoulders.

Halfway through the meeting, I stood up to grab a notebook.

Everyone suddenly went quiet.

My manager said, “Are you wearing pajamas?”

I looked down.

“Yes.”

There was another awkward silence.

Then my manager said, “At least you're comfortable.”

I nodded.

“That's actually one of our company values.”

Nobody laughed.

So I muted myself and laughed alone.
